envelope written from the IKUNO SILVER MINE in the Province of TAJIMA bearing USA Scott 146, 2c brown, Scott 148, 6c carmine and Scott 151, 12c dull violet cancelled by cork cancel with adjacent United States Post Office datestamp of YOKOHAMA Japan, handstruck PD in red, cover routed via San Francisco and New York with London Paid CDS, French entry cachet and St. Etienne arrival on reverse. A superb 3 colour franking from the Paul Ozier correspndence, a French mining engineer at the St. Etienne School who worked in the YAMAGANO MINE, SATSUMA from 1877. (pt)
